Adventure Destination Programming, (CSC)

Purpose:
The Adventure Destination Programming Career Studies Certificate is a stackable credential for those wishing to work in or around ecology, recreation and/or tourism industries or just enjoys the outdoors.The skillset earned through completion of the program will complement any profession (Business, Engineering, Science, Nursing, etc.) by providing fundamental knowledge of adventure programming, trip planning, risk mitigation, first aid, and wilderness survival.

Program Requirements:
Students completing the program will learn aspects of safety, excursion preparation, basic skills needed for activity participation, and career opportunities related to adventure recreation activities and events. The participant will illustrate the principles of Leave No Trace, the importance of protecting the environment, and demonstrate the skills learned through participating in a comprehensive adventure recreation trip, as a capstone project. In summary, the program will inspire responsible outdoor participation and build a strong community involvement and support for the environment and adventure recreation. Students will gain life experiences, knowledge, and skills to enjoy their own adventures leading them to an active lifestyle, a potential career opportunity, and becoming ambassadors for the promotion of adventure recreation and environmental protection.
