Purpose: The Career Studies Certificate in Automotive Diagnostics and Repair is in response to the non-conventional short-term program training needs for many adults in our service region to yield an awarding career. The program will consist of a credit-based, fast track, short-term curriculum to prepare students for entry-level automotive diagnostic and repair technician positions. The program will cover standard practices, basic operational procedures, safety, ignition and fuel systems, tune-up, mechanical and electrical diagnostics and repair, brake systems, and alignment, suspension and steering. The students will also receive instruction in digital literacy.
Admission Requirements: Students must meet the general admission requirements established by the College.
Program Requirements: The project-based, experiential curriculum will provide coverage of automotive scanner diagnostics, mechanical & electrical torque, wheel service & alignment, rotor matching, battery starting and charging, precision measurement and multi-meter. The students will work through real-world situations to implement solutions in an experiential learning environment. Participants have the opportunity to earn various NC3 Snap-On and Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) credentials in addition to the Career Studies Certificate in Automotive Diagnostics and Repair.
