Purpose:
The Associate of Applied Science Degree is designed to prepare students as paraprofessionals in the field of human services. Successful completion of the program will qualify students for entry-level jobs in social services, mental health facilities where substance use is prevalent, substance abuse facilities, and correctional facilities. The program will expose the student to the characteristics, basic skills, and knowledge necessary for human service providers with wishing to provide basic helping skills to individuals with various substance use disorders.
Occupational Objectives:
preparation for positions as human service workers in the following settings:
Alcohol Treatment Programs, Residential and Non-Residential Treatment Facilities for Substance Use, Domestic and Sexual Violence Shelters, Correctional Institutions, Group Homes and Clubhouses, and Juvenile Treatment Centers.
